Flat tires, empty gas tanks or mechanical malfunctions cause many to be stranded on the side of the road at some point. By remembering a few pointers, motorists remain safer while waiting for assistance.

Have emergency supplies ready at all times. The list of items should include water and snacks, batteries, first aid kit, flashlight, batteries, antifreeze, basic tools and kitty litter or sand and jumper cables. Make sure the phone or mobile device is charged before leaving home.

When a vehicle begins exhibiting signs of trouble to the point of stalling, pull off the road in a location that is safely away from the flow of traffic. Turn on the emergency flashers and set up warning triangles or flares to alert other drivers. Before heading out on a road trip, bring the vehicle to our DCH Lexus of Santa Barbara service center for maintenance or necessary repairs.
